Instructor's Diploma

Study Time Requirements
To successfully complete the course, a minimum of 12 study hours per week must be undertaken. Day and evening classes will be available, however, some weekend classes will also be necessary.

Correspondence Study
A proportion of the course may be completed by correspondence, however, some class contact hours are compulsory. Classes will be held at Goju Ryu KAKURIN KAN Karate-do International in Greensborough, Victoria. Special arrangements will be made for interstate students.

Reference Material
Detailed notes on each component will be presented to students as the course progresses. Study books will also be supplied at no extra cost.

Examination
A multiple choice theory examination and short thesis will be required in order to receive your Diploma. In addition, each student will be required to demonstrate and teach the areas covered in the course.

A detailed timetable for Term 1 will be forwarded on receipt of your deposit/payment in full.

COURSE PROSPECTUS
MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTOR
- Goju Ryu Karate-do Diploma
- Chinese Internal Kung Fu Diploma

Awarded on successful completion of the prescribed requirements, this course has been structured for people wishing to gain insights into methods of training and study in the fundamentals of teaching the Martial Arts.

Graduates wishing to teach professionally or semi-professionally within the Kakurin Kan Organisation will receive more detailed information on the Kakurin Kan methods of training and teaching.

Karate students must attain the level of 1st Degree Black Belt before being eligible for licence to teach within Kakurin Kan International. In addition, final approval by the Principal must be granted.

Successful completion of all prescribed components of this course is hence for a prerequisite for Instructorship within the Kakurin Kan Organisation in the fields of Goju Ryu Karate, Tai Chi, Pa Kua or Hsing I.

COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES :

Teaching Skills
Structuring, Communicating and Basic Psychology of Instructing.

Fundamentals of Karate-do
Strikes, Kicks, Stances, Movement, Basic Etiquette and Philosophy.

History and Evolution of Martial Arts

Goju Ryu and Shurite Kata
Movement and more important applications and advanced classical principles and methods of generating power.

Kumite
Strategy and methods of training.

Foundations of Oriental Medicine
Shiatsu, acupuncture, Cupping and Moxibustion, Dietary Energetics.

Treating Martial Arts Injuries
Theory and structured clinical practice (includes preparing and applying herbal poultices, first aid and resuscitation).

Breathing Methods
For Martial Arts and Health.

Qi Gong and Self Massage

Tai-Chi Form, Authentic Tai-Chi Form (Wang Shu Chin)
Applications and Pushing Hands and Martial Applications.

Hsing I
Fundamentals and Philosophy, Five Element Forms, 12 Animal Forms, Linking Forms and Applications, Hsing I weapons and Qi Gong.
